Whichever view is subscribed to it is vitally important that young children are given the stimuli of movement experience. These early experiences will enable children to develop both physically and cognitively and will hopefully motivate them to learn more about sports performance. It is therefore vital that those responsible for the teaching of young people during these formative years attempt to cultivate these more general abilities prior to their becoming involved in specific skill learning (or coaching).
